Program Introductions
Approved by the educational and administrative departments, the program of Sino-Canadian training is co-sponsored by CQUPT and Ruinisen School of Waterloo University of Canada, as a school-running project with cooperation between Chinese and foreign universities, aiming at training English professionals or people with multiple potentials( English plus specialty).
The program requires the applicants first to participate in the college entrance examination of the year and get the point for admission into the corresponding specialty as undergraduates, and then singles out the excellent applicants for admission into the program.
The students on this program major in English courses in an all-English teaching and learning environment in the first two years, and all the main courses are taught by foreign teachers in order to help lay a solid English foundation for training talents. Two years later, those students can apply to the school according to their own basic performance and interests in learning, and if approved, can be admitted into CQUP to continue their learning in a corresponding major. After this subdivision, the students choosing to major in English on this program has 4 years of study (model 2 +2), while those choosing other majors have 5 years of study (model 2 +3). And the subdivided students receive the same treatment, diploma as other students in the same major.

The Waterloo University is the most prestigious comprehensive university in Canada, winning "Best reputation University"for10 years in a row and, and as one of the largest cooperative education bases in North America, it ranks first with its high course standard. Attached to the Waterloo University, the Ruinisen Institute is advanced in social developing science and art science, and is entitled to offer a bachelor¡¯s degree of the Waterloo University in 26 related subjects such as humanities, social sciences, linguistics and performing arts, etc.. As an attachment to the Waterloo University and with good English teaching, the Ruinisen College is characterized by it English training courses, whose intensive English training course is greatly favored by international students who come here for intensive English training each year by the thousand. This training courses are offered both on a short term basis and as EFAS course. EFAS students may take other subjects at the same time. If students pass the acknowledged English proficiency test, the Ruinisen College may offer to help them to apply for other majors or colleges as well as recommend them for other universities.
Program characteristics
The program emplys advanced teaching modes, creates a pure foreign language learning and teaching environment to intensifies the foreign language learning atmosphere. All the main courses of English majors in the first two years are taught by the Canadian teachers, and the North American English original materials (including paper, electronics, audio-visual and other media) are selected as teaching materials for those courses. This college gives priority to the student-centered teaching principle, emphasizes the teaching process, gives priority to edification and interaction in teaching, and puts particular emphasis on evaluation formation. It puts on the top the training of honored students with an overall development in both knowledge and ability, IQ and EQ. Through classes, lectures, readings, discussions, debates, collective activities, community investigations and work probation, and other ways, the students are trained to be equipped with a sense of morality, an international horizon, a teamwork spirit, communication ability, aesthetic appreciativeness, computer capacity, job hunting skills, a sense of social etiquette and other obligatory qualities to modern citizens, in order to improve their own competitiveness in the global talent market.
To students who need to change majors, help is offered with the basic knowledge learning of relevant majors and the training of relevant practical ability during the course of intensive English learning.
